Cette année, c’est un chemin… « protestant » que je veux
parcourir : la « Voie de l’Exil » des Vaudois du Piémont italien
(marqué en brun sur la carte -- merci au site "Sur les pas des Huguenots"), depuis le Val Pellice (au sud-ouest de
Turin), via Suse et le Col du Mont-Cenis pour traverser les Alpes, puis la
Savoie, jusqu’à Genève. Une page douloureuse de l’histoire de nos Eglises, datant
de 1687, où le Duc de Savoie a voulu débarrasser son territoire des ces « hérétiques »
en les déportant sur la Suisse, suite à la Révocation de l’Edit de Nantes.
Aujourd’hui, c’est dans l’ouverture œcuménique et la joie de la rencontre que
je veux faire ce chemin avec Michel, un ami qui est aussi pasteur retraité,
contemporain et résident du village de Saillon.

This year, I’m setting out
on a “Protestant” trail: the Way of the Exile of the Waldensians (marked in
brown on the map -- thanks to the website "Sur les pas des Huguenots"), from the Val Pellice in northwest Italy (SW of Torino),
via Susa and the Moncenisio Pass over the Alps, then across eastern France
(Savoy) to Geneva. A painful page of church history dating from 1687, when the
Duke of Savoy decided to rid his territory of the Waldensian “heretics” by
deporting them to Switzerland, following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes.
Today it is in an ecumenical spirit and in the joy of encounters along the way
that I want to hike this trail with Michel, a friend who is also a retired
pastor, a contemporary and a resident of the village of Saillon.
