Toute la matinée on entend le tonnerre gronder mais les orages restent loin de nous, alors que nous montons vers un chemin de crête et le suivons jusqu'à St-Romain-de-Surieu, où nous prenons un pique-nique un peu plus léger que d'habitude. La seule chose qui nous convenait dans le seul village qu'on a traversé ce matin, c'était du pain -- mais du bon!
Sur la colline qu'on doit traverser pour arriver à Assieu, le mauvais temps nous rattrape, avec une "pluie qui mouille"... Nous sommes contents de trouver un café pour se mettre au sec, une fois en bas.
De là, on doit faire très attention à suivre le balisage jacquaire (coquille jaune sur fond bleu) car le "GR" (sentier de Grande Randonnée) officiel a été modifié... et ajoute 7 km au parcours précédent! Nous préférons suivre le chemin plus court que j'ai emprunté en 2003, recommandé par l'association jacquaire Rhône-Alpes.
Etape ce soir chez Daniel et Marie-Jo, chez qui nous arrivons juste avant le retour de la pluie.. Ouf! Le "GR" se transformait en "GG": "Galets Glissants" ...
All morning we keep hearing thunder...
but the rain stays away from us as we go up to a ridge trail and follow it to St-Romain-de-Surieu, where we eat our picnic, a bit lighter than usual. The only appropriate thing we could buy in the only village we saw this morning was the bread -- which is excellent!
On our way up the hill we have to cross to get to Assieu, the bad weather catches up to us, a soaking rain... We are very glad to get to a café in the next town, to find a dry place to rest.
From there, we have to be careful to follow only the pilgrim trail markers (yellow shell on a blue background) since the official "GR" (sentier de Grande Randonnée = long-distance trail) has been modified.... and they've added 7 km to the old trail! We prefer to follow the shorter path I followed in 2003, recommended by the Rhone-Alpes pilgrim association.
We stay this evening at the home of Daniel and Marie-Jo, where we arrive just before the rain hits again... Whew! The "GR" was turning into an "SR": "Slippery Rocks" ...
