Ce 14 juillet - fête nationale en France - est férié ici... alors nous sommes contents de trouver une "superette" ouverte pour acheter notre pique-nique!
Après "une bonne grimpette" en quittant Chanaz, l'étape nous fait passer par monts et par vaux, par bois et par vignes, notamment vers Montagnin et Jongieux.
Si les vignes donnent envie de goûter le vin -- ce que nous ferons ce soir chez Marie-Noël et Alain, qui font "accueil jacquaire" chez eux à Yenne -- les bois nous réservent une surprise: des petites chenilles "pyrales du buis" qui se laissent tomber des branches, suspendues par un fil... et qui collent au pèlerin qui passe... au sac, aux bras, au visage...
Dans la dernière descente assez raide de la chapelle St-Romain (panorama magnifique) vers Yenne, ces petites bestioles nous empêchent parfois de bien regarder où on met les pieds... On est heureux d'arriver en bas sans accident!
Today, July 14th, is Bastille Day in France, a holiday... so we're happy to find a small grocery store open, to buy our picnic lunch.
After a steep climb up from Chanaz, today's stage takes us through hills and valleys, woods and vineyards, notably Montagnin and Jongieux.
While the vineyards make us want to taste the local wine -- which we'll get to do this evening with Marie-Noël and Alain, who host pilgrims in their home in Yenne -- the woods reserve a different surprise for us: liitle caterpillars who drop down from the branches, suspended on a strand... and who stick to the passing pilgrim... his pack, his arms, his face...
In the last descent from the St. Roman chapel (magnificent panorama) towards Yenne, these little critters sometimes prevent us from watching carefully where we step... We're glad to get down the slope with no accidents!
