Ce matin nous sommes accueillis par Eberhard Rivoir,
descendant de réfugiés vaudois de la Val Chisone. Il nous fait d’abord visiter
l’église vaudoise (en pierre) la plus vieille (1721) et la plus massive d’Allemagne,
puis le musée vaudois de Pinache. On découvre, entre autre, que les vaudois ont
essayé de pratiquer ici l’élevage des vers à soie et la fabrication de ce tissu,
comme dans leurs vallées du Piémont, mais qu’ils ont fini par renoncer, vu les
difficultés du climat ici.
This morning we were welcomed by Eberhard
Rivoir, a descendant of Waldensian refugees from Val Chisone. He first gave us
a tour of the oldest (1721) and most imposing Waldensian church (built of
stone) in Germany, and then took us to the Waldensian Museum in Pinache. Among
other things, we learn that the Waldensians tried to raise silkworms and
produce silk fabric here, just as they did in their valleys in Piedmont, but
that they eventually gave up due to the harsh climate.
