Jeudi 16 juillet / Thursday July 16th : Neidenstein – Spechbach – Lobenfeld – Neckarsteinach

On reprend le train pour rejoindre notre sentier à Neidenstein. En quittant la gare, un gars ressemblant à une vieil hippie nous demande si on fait le HWT. C’est assez rare pour le noter ! Il nous explique qu’on peut passer « chez lui » à 2 pas de là, si on veut faire une pause. Mais lorsque je lui explique qu’on commence l’étape à l’instant, ses gesticulations indiquent bien qu’il faut passer notre chemin !

We take the train back to Neiderstein to join up with our trail. As we leave the station, a guy who looks like an old hippie asks us if we’re hiking the HWT. Pretty rare that people have even heard of it! He says we can stop by “his place” nearby, if we want a break. But when I tell him we’re just now starting today’s stage, his reaction indicates clearly that we need to keep moving!

Lorsque nous arrivons à Spechbach, il semble que rien n’est ouvert… à part une boucherie. J’y entre, avec l’idée qu’ils ont peut-être des boissons fraîches. C’est le cas… et surtout l’occasion d’une chouette rencontre avec Thorsten, nouvel « ange » qui nous fait goûter leur production locale de « fromage d’Italie » et passe un bon moment à discuter avec nous.

When we arrive in Spechbach, it seems like nothing is open… except for a butcher shop. I go inside, thinking they might have some cold drinks. They do… and, more importantly, it’s an opportunity to meet Thorsten, a new “angel” who lets us taste their locally made pork loaf and spends a good while chatting with us.
